Hot on the heals of the 98 lbs carp are two more lake records. Bob Martin from Tonbridge in Kent with his brother Alan visited gillhams fishing resorts for one week. At 6pm on the third day of his stay he moved swims on Stuart’s advice to the bottom corner in the deep water by the restaurant. On his first cast before he could cast his second rod out he broke the lake record red tail catfish by 5 lbs with a fine 70lb specimen. There are five known 60 lb plus red tails in the lake this fish was a new fish not seen since the April 07 stocking, when the fish weighed 30 lbs showing a remarkable 2 ½ lb per month weight gain. We are confident we will have our first 100lb red tail in two years. On Bobs second cast having cast both rods out and settling down for a spell of fishing into dark, the same rod was away again and Bob broke the lake record arapaima with a huge beast of 380 lbs, this fish was one of our original home grown fish again stocked last April when the fish was weighed at 350 lbs. Two casts two records and Bob has already booked his return. Both fish were bought to the net using our Free Spirit 6lb Tc cat tamer rods, teamed up with the superb new Gold label Pro-Tuf 30 lb line. What more can we say other than the fish are growing as fast as our reputation as the number one big fish holiday destination.
